There have been some major changes recently with regards to Accountant’s ability to provide certain kinds of advice to clients regarding Superannuation. As of 1 July 2016, Accountants have been required to commit to further training and become licenced under the Australian Financial Services regime to continue to provide advice regarding matters including establishing Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF), updates and changes to existing SMSF deeds, contribution strategies, pensions, Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements (LRBA) and class of asset investment strategies.
To ensure that Desborough Accountants can continue to provide comprehensive services to our clients, Lee Fox has completed appropriate training and has recently been certified as an Authorised Representative (No. 1250171) of the SMSF Advisers Network Pty Ltd, AFSL No. 430062.
Going forward and working under a Financial Services Licence, there are strict procedures that dictate how Superannuation advice can be provided to you. As a consequence you may find that if you require assistance the process is a little different to what you are used to. Rest assured that these procedures are in place to ensure that you are provided with the most appropriate advice to suit your individual circumstances.
Please find links below to our two part Financial Services Guide which will give you more information regarding this matter. This document is designed to educate and protect you and promote fairness in financial products and services.
If you have any questions about how these changes may affect you, please do not hesitate to call our office and have a chat with Lee.
